Infants (6 weeks-12 months)

At Lowcountry Children's Co-op, we offer a very small and intimate program for infants. This allows us to give your child the same level of care that you would expect in your own home.  Infants are given the opportunity to explore and learn about the world around them at their own pace and in a safe, healthy, and loving environment. Our infant curriculum includes music, movement, literature, and sensory experiences using age-appropriate tools and manipulatives. As part of our program, we provide experiences that are tailored to encourage your child's natural growth and development.

Examples of Key Areas of Development During Infancy:

  • Cognitive:  searches for fallen objects; recognizes image in a mirror
  • Communication: vocalizes sounds; responds to familiar voices
  • Social-Emotional: reciprocal facial expressions; reacts to changes in environment
  • Adaptive: introduction to soft foods; stops crying when picked up
  • Motor: rolls over, crawls, picks up objects with thumb and forefinger
