Lauren Fields

Lauren Fields received an Elementary Education degree from the College of Charleston and has over 12 years of teaching experience in the Charleston area, ranging from early childhood education at a private Montessori preschool to at-risk elementary education in the Charleston County public school system.  For the past 4 years, Lauren’s teaching primarily has focused on reading and math intervention. Lauren has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching, including being named Teacher of the Year in 2005 and 2012. Recognizing the educational benefits of connecting children with nature, Lauren helped co-author a gardening curriculum that will be used as part of Charleston County schools’ outdoor classroom curriculum and organized a seasonal farmers’ market for students in partnership with local farms. After her first child was born, Lauren experienced firsthand the shortage of preschools available in Charleston.  After spending over a year on waiting lists for her own child, Lauren sought to offer another option for families searching for quality child care.
